PMI a program management certification organization needed to find new ways to engage a much younger and certification averse audience.

As part of a larger engagement, the opportunity to design and develop and application that would meet the market needs was identified. We worked quickly from concept to live application pilot.

Establishing the learning paradigm.

PMI has a ton of content, but much of it is heavy and “textbooK”. To appeal to the younger PM’s looking to up their skills we worked with the PMI team to isolate and refactor the content into bite-size pieces that could be consumed via the app and its swipe-based interface. Each learning module consisted of a series of learning cards, as the user completes sections they would be quizzed, and rewarded.

Gut checking our assumptions.

Before developing the pilot our team conducted additional research to validate some of our hypotheses around what truly mattered to this new breed of PM. We had group focus sessions around their certification experiences (or lack there of) and what they find most valuable to know for their day to day jobs.
